PlaCor Inc. has developed a simple, easy to use, proprietary test for platelet reactivity, a serious risk factor for heart attack and stroke.  Most cardiologists are aware that up to 50% of patients taking aspirin and/or Plavix®  still have high platelet reactivity, putting them at an increased risk for experiencing a heart attack or stroke.

Antiplatelet agents inhibit platelets from sticking together and initiating the clotting process. Most testing methods determine how "sticky" (or reactive) platelets are.  PlaCor's PRTTM  (Platelet Reactivity Test) is designed to be a point-of-care device that can be easily operated by non-laboratory personnel and mimics how platelets are activated in the body. The methodology is quick, straightforward and can be used not only with aspirin but with other antiplatelet drugs. No other instrument can be used with such a wide range or combination of drugs. In addition, PlaCor's PRT is the only instrument that can use blood from a fingerprick sample, making it the fastest platelet reactivity test available.

The Placor PRT gives you the physician an overall view of the reactivity of your patient’s platelets. Not just a view of one pathway but the global reactivity.

Patients taking a single antiplatelet drug or a combination such as Aspirin and Clopidrigrel may still exhibit high platelet reactivity. Tests that determine whether one or two pathways re blocked or antagonised may not give a true indication of the global reactivity.

The Placor PRT test is the global test, independent of particular pathways, the Placor test mimics how platelets react in an arterial stenosis, the shear stresses caused in the test activate platelets and they aggregate in the two narrowed areas on the test cartridge.

Test times are recorded in seconds, the shorter the test time, the more reactive the platelets!

Fast; finger prick to result in under 10 minutes.

Easy; Sample collected with the test cartridge.

Global; Independent of specific pathways.

Correlates with whole blood aggregometry.
