AtriCure, Inc. is the leading company developing, manufacturing and selling innovative cardiac surgical ablation systems designed to create precise lesions, or scars, in cardiac tissue. With both radio frequency and cryo-ablation technologies we are able to provide the cardiac surgeon with a tailored solution for the the most demanding surgical applications.

Pace, Sense and high-frequency Stimulate with the Isolator® multifunctional pen.

These are methods used to evaluate electrical activity within and around atrial cardiac tissue. Pacing and sensing in reference to atrial fibrillation are two methods to determine if electrical isolation, or quiescence, has been achieved.

Pacing objective: Confirm exit block of focal stimuli from the atrial cuff to the atrium

Pre-Ablation

Using the multifunctional pen, establish atrial capture by placing the pen at various atrial cuff locations – superior, bifurcation, inferior (lateral to the proposed ablation line) documenting those that elicit a corresponding atrial pacing rate change.

Post-Ablation

Place the pen at all previously identified atrial cuff locations to confirm that they no longer provoke a corresponding atrial rate change.

Why choose bipolar radio frequency (RF) ablation?

Epicardial radio frequency ablation is a safe means to achieve surgical ablation of atrial fibrillation with a high success rate. The simplicity of the technique and the low procedure-related risk should dictate

combined treatment virtually in all patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing open heart operations.

The Atricure Synergy offers cardiac surgeons the most reliable non cut and sew method of producing non conducting lesions for isolation of cardiac tissues.

Closed Chest AF Surgery

For patients presenting with paroxysmal and persistent AF.

Bi-lateral pulmonary vein isolation with 90+% success.

Closure and excision of the left atrial appendage to manage the risk of stroke.

Sole therapy, minimally invasive treatment for atrial fibrillation

For patients with atrial fibrillation who do not require an open heart surgical procedure, AtriCure has developed innovative products for a sole therapy, minimally invasive treatment for atrial fibrillation. In order to perform this minimally invasive treatment, surgeons insert a lighted scope and other instruments through small incisions in the patient’s chest. Surgeons report that the entire procedure takes between two and three hours and that the typical recovery time is approximately three to four days.

Clinical studies have been published citing the efficacy of the minimally invasive AtriCure procedure. With ECG monitoring, success from one study was presented at 100% freedom from AF in paroxysmal patients and 71.4% freedom from AF in permanent patients.

Uniform Lesion Formation

The Synergy ablation clamp creates a uniform, column-shaped lesion.

Pulsating energy between the two pairs of electrodes creates a lesion from the core of the tissue outward.

The result is a robust, high-definition lesion ensuring  a high degree of block.

Features

History

A proven track record of successful Nitrous Oxide use in the cardiac suite. Studied in over 100 medical and scientific papers, Nitrous Oxide is the most researched and utilized cryo gas by cardiac surgeons. Why experiment with relatively new cryo gases that have a limited clinical record and thin pre-clinical research?

Flexibility

Malleable 10cm end-effector and unique forming tool allows you to customize each lesion for the patient's anatomy. The best-in-class shaft length (20cm) and smooth aluminum probe surface enables you to place the device exactly where you intend.

Efficiency

Rapid ramp time and instantaneous thawing decrease lesion cycle times. No wasted time irrigating and suctioning fluid between applications. To shorten procedure times further, the system allows two devices to be used simultaneously so you can place one device while the other is creating a cryo lesion.

Performance

The smooth aluminum end-effector ensures firm tissue contact and consistent thermal absorption along the entire length. Variability of probe temperature along the 10cm probe length is best-in-class at +/- 3°. Cryo1 meets or exceeds all performance parameters of the 3011 device which has been the industry standard for over 15 years.
